Polish brokerage market slows

23 November 2012

The Polish brokerage market was hit hard by the most recent economic turmoil, according to the business server parkiet.pl. While most companies fared well during Q3 compared with the second quarter of the year, the sentiment on the global capital markets affected the brokerage business in Poland. Market watchers, however, are not surprised by this, considering WSE’s trades reached just PLN 45.1bn in the third quarter of the year, compared with PLN 67.8bn in the same period last year.
“When looking at the result, we should be aware of several aspects, including a downturn on the market,” said Jan Kuźma of DM Bank BPS. “The brokerage market needs new investments to develop new trading system.”
