Polish construction sector among fastest growing in EU

Poland’s construction sector was ranked the seventh fastest growing Sector in Europe behind Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Spain and Netherlands, according to the most recent report from Euroconstruct. The Polish Press Agency points out that the country’s construction sector remains dominated by foreign builders. At the end of 2014, the Polish construction sector was valued at €43bn, according to the report. By comparison, the European construction sector is worth as much as €1.34 trillion.

“Poland and Ireland are currently the fastest-growing markets, but the biggest jump is expected in 2017,” Mariusz Sochacki, president of PAB-PCR&F Institute told PAP, adding that the the Polish sector is expected to grow by an average of 8.6 percent between 2015 and 2017. Experts claim that European subsidies continue to be the biggest drivers, with the biggest portion of funds earmarked for the country’s infrastructure projects.
