Polish Omicron infections will increase to over 60,000 per day in the coming days

The Ministry of Health expects an increase in the number of new and confirmed cases of coronavirus infection to over 60,000 daily this week, according to the spokesman of the Ministry Wojciech Andrusiewicz. The omicron variant is responsible for about half of the cases.

“The epidemic is gaining momentum. We must be prepared for these increases in the coming days, even above 60,000,” Andrusiewcz said during the press conference.

He stressed that the most important thing at this point is testing. Currently, it is possible to carry out approx. 200 thousand. PCR tests throughout the day.

“Next week, several million antigen tests from the Governmental Agency for Strategic Reserves will be sent to laboratories and testing stations,” he said.

Today there have been 53,420 new and confirmed cases of infection.
