Prices in retail stores increased on average by 24.1% y / y in September after increasing by 23.7% y / y in August and by 18.6% y / y in July, results from the cyclical of the report “Price index in retail stores” by UCE Research and WSB Universities. Each of the 12 analyzed categories grew more expensive, and 11 recorded double-digit increases.
“The current dynamics of price growth is conditioned by a package of overlapping pro-inflationary factors. We are dealing mainly with supply inflation, caused by imbalances in the markets of raw materials and semi-finished products. In turn, restrictions in the availability of products, increases in wages and taxes, and a sharp increase in energy costs. they contribute to the constantly growing cost inflation. Moreover, the weak zloty exchange rate causes imported inflation. In addition, there are also two types of inflation, i.e. monetary, i.e. the creation of money without cover, and budget, resulting from excessive non-investment expenditures in relation to real incomes,” said economist Edyta Wojtyla from the WSB University in Poznań.
Analysts from UCE Research emphasize that out of 12 monitored categories, all prices increased y / y – from 8.5% to 57.4%. This is the case once again in a row, but in August each analyzed category recorded a double-digit jump, and recently it concerned 11 product groups.
