Atal: Polish sale of apartments will not accelerate this year, loan subsidies would help

9 September 2022

Atal’s management board does not expect the pace of apartment sales to improve this year and estimates that it will sell approx. 2,000 in 2022. premises. According to the CEO, Zbigniew Juroszek, the market would be most effectively helped by loan subsidies.

“At the moment, our estimates are around 2,000 against our estimate of 2,500 at the end of Q1. The worst period was July and August. In September, we see a slight improvement. it may be better than Q3, but still within 2,000 [apartments sold this year],” said Juroszek during a press conference.

“This year the situation is unlikely to improve,” he added, pointing out that the main problem for the sale of apartments – the availability of mortgage loans – has not been resolved.

He assessed that the most effective way to restore the pace of home sales would be government loan subsidies.

“In recent days I have heard a proposal that would go towards cheaper interest rates. […] The state interest subsidy is the fastest, most effective and the best idea. Because it enters immediately and is effective. how wide this program will be. And will it be implemented?” said Juroszek.

Over the weekend, the president of Law and Justice (PiS) Jarosław Kaczyński announced that the government is working on a new housing program, which would include loans with an interest rate of no more than 2% for young families, and the difference in interest would be covered by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK).
