Porsche to build factory in Slovakia

The Germany sports car producer Porsche has decided to build a new factory in Slovakia, according to the Slovak daily Dennik N. The newspaper called the news “the biggest surprise of the coronavirus crisis”. Porsche, which is part of the Volkswagen group, already operates a production facility in the country which employs nearly 200 people. It’s also building a development center in the village Horna Streda where 500 engineers are expected to work. The company has submitted construction permit documentation for the new factory, which will be built in the Povazi region. It should employ around 1,200 people following the €250 million investment, with production scheduled to start in 2027.
