The Porto Cruz Project, located just west of Lisbon, has come under attack from a local civic association which claims the scheme would ruin an area called the Jamor Valley as well as the riverside area in Oeriras county. It also claims the project would ruin the Cruz Quebrada and the Caxias beaches. In all, the project consists of eight buildings, five towers ranging up to 20 floors, a marina, a shopping center, roads, bridges and parking lots. A pedestrian link to the Jamor waterfront is also planned. The association “Let’s Save Jamor” (Vamos Salvar o Jamor) has raised just over €5,000 to pay for legal fees in a planned legal fight against the Municipality of Oeiras and the project’s developers. The project is currently under review and no date has been set for the beginning of construction.
