Portugal’s Minister of Agriculture and Sea, Ana Paula Vitorino has said the Government intends to “double the investment in the economy of the sea” to stimulate growth. He said there are “several projects of entrepreneurs who can start to contribute to wealth creation and employment.”
Ana Paula Vitorino also spoke about another finance program – āFundo Azulā (Blue Fund), which aims to support “research projects implemented in partnership with industry and to support ‘start ups,’ innovative technologies that might create more activities related to the seaā. Yesterday, in Vila do Conde, the minister was present at the signing session of contracts for over ā¬68m for local development, urban and coastal areas. These contracts, worth ā¬39m, were signed with 12 local fisheries to 39 million euros. Another ā¬28m will go to 26 Urban Local Action Groups.
