Considered one of the biggest project’s for the Polish energy sector, work on the PLN 11.5bn Opole-based power blocks has been put on hold after environmentalists took Poland’s energy giant, PGE, to court over the plans.
Although no further details have been disclosed, PGE says it plans to move forward with the project, regardless of the conflict. The general contractor for the projects, a consortium between Polimex-Mostostal, Rafako and Mostostal-Warszawa is being patient. “We will wait for notice before proceeding,” said Wiesław Różacki, the newly elected head of the builder Rafako.
