PPF plans new district to replace Letňany sports airport

17 June 2020

The PPF investment group is planning to build a new neighborhood on the edge of Prague on land near the Letňany metro station currently used as a sports airport. The project would begin with the construction of a new park before work begins on flats, shops, services and offices. But SeznamZpravy.cz reports that the project could take up to 15 years to get off the ground, even though few people in the heavily populated residential area will object to the airport’s removal. “Our goal is to design a functioning city district made up of a balanced collection of all city functions,” said Vladislav Minář, executive of the PPF subsidiary that owns the land. He’s assigned the Qarta architektura studio to carry out an urban study on the land, in part on the basis of its experience in bringing the Karlin district back to life.
