In a move to bring new energy to the struggling O2 telecom operator, its owner PPF plans to split the company into two separate businesses. Mobile operations are to stay in one division, infrastructure and land lines will be shifted into a new entity that will sell these services to other operators including O2. PPF hopes this will improve business on the increasingly competitive Czech market. Hospodářské noviny writes that the idea behind the move is that O2 is attempting to avoid strict regulations imposed by the state to avoid a monopoly on the landline market.
