The management of Prague 11 does not agree with the construction of the Duo Galaxie apartment buildings near the Háje metro station, which are planned by the company Thesea on the site of the former Galaxie cinema. Šárka Zdeňková (HPP11), the mayor of Prague 11, said this at yesterday’s meeting of the city district council. Two 72-metre high towers with 22 floors are to be built on the site, and the construction plan is now entering the procedure for the location of the building.

“I consider the project to be extremely monstrous. I would like to assure all citizens and councillors that the council is preparing the strongest comments possible,” Zdeňková said at yesterday’s meeting.

She added that she is also offering to help citizens who disagree with the development to submit comments. “I encourage citizens in the neighborhood to keep a close eye on the intentions of these developers and especially to submit comments to the proceedings from the position of the affected owners. These comments are really important,” she said. She further added that she has reached out to the unit owners’ association so that citizens can be informed about the plan and participate in the proceedings.

The land is currently developed with the former Galaxie cinema building. Investor Thesea wants to remove the existing buildings near the intersection of Opatovská and Arkalycká streets, near the eastern exit of the Háje C metro station, and build two new apartment buildings with 22 floors with shops and other services. 276 flats are to be built here.
