The City Hall of Prague 2 has applied for a zoning decision for the construction of a new home for the elderly and people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. She would like to get the documentary this summer, according to Mayor Alexandra Udženija (ODS). The home will be in Vinohrady on a plot delimited by Italská, Lichnická, Španělská and Kunětická streets. The reason for the construction is the lack of places, especially for people suffering from dementia. According to an earlier statement by the town hall, the price could be around CZK 495 million and construction will begin in 2023.
As soon as the city district obtains a zoning decision, it then applies for a building permit. At the same time, he will start preparing a tender for the selection of a construction company. Exactly when the tender for the builder will be announced will depend on the course of the mentioned official proceedings.
The home will offer clients 130 beds and will be provided with 24-hour care. The house will have separate rooms for seniors, relaxation and counseling center, community garden or chapel. Hospice beds and a weekly hospital will also be included.
Operating costs are not yet known, according to last year’s statement by Martina Polanská, director of the Center for Social Services in Prague 2, which will operate the home, could be around 100 to 120 million crowns. Now the town hall spends about CZK 50 million a year on its facilities. However, there will be more capacity and more staff in the new home, Polanská added at the time.
