Prague 3 plans to build city apartments in an unfinished building block near the Zizkov Freight Station complex. A hospital for the elderly could also be established there. As follows from the resolution of the city council, the town hall will announce an architectural competition for the form of construction. Private developers are planning to build a new district in the neighboring area of the former railway station.
The unfinished block is located between Na Viktorce and U Staré cihelny streets, east of the railway station complex. “Prior to 2018, one of the owners of the neighboring plots of land drew attention to the given lands and said that he would like to buy them or build a residential building here in the form of a PPP (public-private partnership),” the council said in the document’s approval.
According to the document, an apartment building with four or more above-ground floors could be built on the plots, and there could be a day hospital for the elderly on the ground floor, which would also use the courtyard. Based on the decision of the councilors, the city district will now prepare the assignment of the architectural competition, which it wants to announce by the end of October this year.
Central Group, Penta Investment, Sekyra Group and Finep, for example, are planning large housing construction in the neighboring area of the Žižkov Freight Station. Up to 15,000 people should live in the new district. Central Group is already starting to build its first houses, but the building closure applies in most areas. It will be possible to remove this only after the approval of the change in the zoning plan, which the city councils should vote on this year. Some locals who have written a petition do not like the appearance of the change and the planned neighborhood.
