Prague 3’s mayor for the past eight years, Vladislava Hujová, was sacked this week by the district’s council. A total of 32 of 35 deputies voted for her ouster, a month after she announced that she was leaving the TOP 09, one of three political parties govern the third district through a coalition agreement. She’s to be replaced by Alexandra Bellua (of the ODS party). The server idnes.cz reports that the decided to leave TOP 09 after finding out that the party would not support her for re-election in the upcoming local elections. Hujová has been calling for land in Prague 3 to be reserved in the Metropolitan Plan for construction of metro stations, arguing that failing to do so could handicap the city’s development for future generations.
