Prague 4 opposes Skanska project

6 May 2014

Prague 4’s town hall doesn’t agree with the construction of 8 storey apartment buildings in Branik and is protesting against the City of Prague’s intention of making it possible in Prague’s master plan. It charges that the project Skanska originally put forward was three storeys lower and local residents have filed suits against the city to block construction. The City of Prague approved the change to the master plan in March 2011 in order to allow buildings of up to 8 floors to be built. Prague 4 mayor Pavel Caldr said he wasn’t in office at that time, but that he would be lending his support to local residents in opposing the change. The City of Prague claims it can’t risk blocking the right of Skanska to build its project according to the current master plan because the company could then sue it for damages.
