Prague airport capacity growing too fast for bus connections

10 June 2019

Idnes.cz complains that while Prague’s airport is among the 50 biggest in Europe, it’s the only one that doesn’t have a rail connection of any type. And it warns that bus connections, which are already used by two-thirds of the 30,000 passengers passing through the airport, can’t keep up with rising demand. Buses are already leaving from the Nádraží Veleslavín metro station every three minutes during peak hours, forcing the city to consider having two leave at a time. A recent tender for articulated buses collapsed when no one submitted a bid. The state’s railway company has promised that a connection from the center of Prague will be completed within ten years. However, it was supposed to be completed already in 2015, when the Nádraží Veleslavín metro station was completed.
