The Prague airport cleared almost 289,000 passengers in June, the number soaring by 650 percent compared to last year when traffic started recovering from the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic and being twice as high as the May figure, Prague Airport, the Prague airport operator, said today.
“The latest results show Czechs’ interest in traveling is growing,” said Jaroslav Filip, director of aviation business at Letiste Praha.
“Flights to typical holiday destinations are particularly popular. We expect to handle more than one million passengers at Vaclav Havel Airport Prague during the holiday months,” he added.
In June, most passengers flew to Greek islands, Spain and Italy, which are overall the most favorite holiday destinations.
Amsterdam was most popular among cities.
The airport saw 5,058 take-offs and landings in June, which is an increase of 120 percent yr / yr.
With some new routes, the Prague airport offers flights to over 100 destinations. The flights are operated by more than 40 airlines.
