Prague airport invests CZK 200m in new security checkpoint

13 June 2018

The Prague airport unveiled a new centralized security checkpoint in Terminal 2 for passengers flying to destinations in the Schengen zone. The CZK 200m investment is designed to handle 40 percent more people per hour to 2,500, an improvement that should help the airport meet increased demands on its capacity. It includes 8 fully automatic x-ray machines and another six that are served manually. Improvements have also been made to the system that inspects luggage, making it faster and simpler. The old security area at Terminal 2 will be transformed into additional space for stores and restaurants. Prague’s international airport handled a total of 15.4 million passengers in 2017, but management expects the figure to 1.5 million in 2018.
