Prague Ruzyně airport will be renamed after Václav Havel. The Czech government has agreed to the idea for the country’s main airport to bear Havel’s name just months after his death. Havel was a prominent human rights activist and political dissident prior to the revolution of 1989, and the country’s first post-Communist president. The renaming of the airport has won widespread support in the country, with with 82 thousand people having signed a petition in favor of it. Transport minister Pavel Dobeš has proposed making the the name change on October 5, on what would have been Havel’s 76th birthday.
