Prague and Lodz top the list of CE logistics hotspots

11 February 2016

European logistics patterns are changing, with Central Poland and Lodz now seen as the most desirable locations in Central Europe, followed by Istanbul and Prague. Prague is becoming a central hot spot for European distribution centers, together with Central Poland, due to its central location, cost of labor and real estate costs. These findings are part of a wider report called Logistic Real Estate Network Expansion, compiled by Prologis in cooperation with Eyefortransport based on a survey of 216 occupiers of logistics space across Europe.

CEE shows the biggest improvement among locations from the first report in 2013, with nine of the top 10 CEE markets improving their score. In total, eight CEE locations made it into the top 20, compared to four in 2013. The rise of markets in CEE comes at the expense of markets in Western Europe. Liege, Paris, Brussels, Madrid and Central Germany displayed the biggest decline, and air cargo hubs, like Frankfurt and Amsterdam-Schiphol, lost ground as well. Venlo, in south east Netherlands, near the German border, is Europe’s most desirable location, followed by Rotterdam.
