Prague Congress Center earns CZK 1.35bn

Prague Congress Center earned CZK 1.35bn (€53.4m) last year, according to the numbers announced by ICCA, an organization focused on congress tourism. The CEO of KCP Michal Kárník says that only a fraction of events organized in Prague congress center are included in the ICCA stats: in 2010 it was only the eight most important congresses of the total of 299 events, while last year ICCA took into account 15 events of 262. Prague has ranked as 16th by the number of delegates, their spending and length of stay. Paris topped the list, followed by Amsterdam, Vienna and Berlin. Congress tourism is the biggest earner, since congress participants spend twice as much as the average tourist. In Prague the average congress tourist spends CZK 6,200 per day, according to Prague’s City Hall.
