The City of Prague stopped work on its new master plan, having already spent CZK 250m in its preparations, and agreed to start preparation of the Metropolitan plan instead. The decision was taken at a stormy meeting of the city assembly on Thursday, following two previous attempts to push through the idea. The greatly simplified Metropolitan plan would mean profound changes in city planning, and Deputy Mayor Tomáš Hudeček (TOP 09) believes it will help reduce the sort of corruption that accompanies the current system, which is far more directive and complicated. The idea won support of majority of the Civic Democrats, while the city’s Social Democrats were against it.
