Prague fights another contractor over tunnel bill

20 June 2014

The City of Prague has signed an arbitration contract with Inženýring dopravních staveb (IDS), the construction manager of the long-delayed Blanka tunnel project. The dispute stems from a number of bills the city has refused to pay IDS for the last several months. The city claims IDS billed it for more than was stipulated in the the original contract. IDS argues, however, that prolonged work on the site has increased costs. IDS has received CZK 202m from the city and is demanding an additional CZK 196m. IDS intends to file an arbitration petition in June or in July. If IDS stops construction, Prague says it will not be able to complete the Blanka tunnel.
