Prague metro extension could lose EU funding

1 June 2012

Prague Transport Authority may not get CZK 7bn from the EU funds it expected to co-finance construction of metro A line to Prague 5 Motol. The line was supposed to serve as a fast connection between the city and Prague Ruzyně airport, but due to lack of money the original project was reduced to just four stations, ending in Motol. The park and ride and transport hub terminal at Dlouhá Míle near the Prague airport was part of the original plan as well, but the City of Prague is now considering cheaper options. One of them is a transport terminal at Veleslavín metro. This would offer just 100 parking places along with a train connection to the airport.
