Following four years of delays, the Blanka tunnel, part of Prague’s inner ring road, is now scheduled to open on Sept. 20 of this year. The tunnel cost CZK 37bn, twice the originally estimated price. In the meantime, the city is to approve billions of crowns worth of additional investments into the ring road infrastructure. Officials may also approve the construction of another tunnel that would reduce traffic congestion in Prague 8 on V Holešovičkách street. The tunnel, called Blanka 2, would run along the Vltava River in the direction of Malešice and would cost CZK 40bn. The City of Prague originally rejected it because of the high cost but came up with an amended version that would run under V Holešovičkách street in the direction of Prosek. The 1 km tunnel would cost CZK 10bn, writes Hospodářské noviny.
