The City of Prague is working with the railway authority (SZ) to build a pair of pavilions above the passenger terminal at the city’s main train station along with a new park. These would replace the parking lot that’s currently there, along with escalators leading down to the terminal. A foot bridge would also be built across the 6-lane highway towards the tracks, while the new pavilions would offer cafes and services for passengers. City officials in charge of urban development have approved the idea for a new park. The entire project is estimated to cost hundreds of millions of crowns. The city is alread working on planning documents that would allow for the construction of tram lines running from Vinohrady towards Vaclavske nameste, along Wilsonova Street and into the park in front of the station.
