Prague’s Metro A line to be co-financed by the EU

1 February 2013

The EU will help finance the extension of Prague’s metro line A with CZK 7.4bn in funding. The new section going from Dejvická to Motol Hospital will have four stations along the 6 km route. The extension should help relieve heavy traffic on the busy Evropská artery, which connects Václav Havel airport and the city center. The metro’s extension is also expected to improve access to the Petřiny residential neighborhood. The costs of the extension are expected to run to CZK 22bn. The EU funding took 16 months to approve, with a cap set at €330m.
