Prague’s Institute for Planning and Development (IPR) completed the city’s primary planning document, the Metropolitan plan, which was submitted to city officials for approval. Set to become valid in 2020, the document establishes locations where the development of high-rises will be permitted.
In addition to the only “skyscraper” area in Prague 4-Pankrác, new areas for high-rise developments have been approved in Prague 7-Bubny, Prague 9-Vysočany and along the planned metro line D, which will connect Pankrác to Písnice in Prague 4. Buildings as tall as 150 meters will also be permitted along the Evropská artery in Prague 6. The city’s first skyscraper, Prague Eye (153m), could be built in the Chodov district, which is not included in high-rise areas highlighted the Metropolitan plan. PPF wants to start construction next year and complete the project in 2018, according to Hospodářské noviny.
