Prague’s new political leadership will oversee several key infrastructure projects, including the construction of the D metro line and completion of the city’s ring road.
The D metro line, which is expected to cost CZK 60bn, already has a valid planning permit in place, writes the server lidovky.cz, and city officials can start assembling the land needed. Jaroslav Ďurič, head of the Prague Transport Company, says that starting construction in 2017 is realistic. However, the state will have to cover the majority of the financing. The EU will contribute only CZK 5bn for the first phase, estimated to cost CZK 30bn.
The section of Prague’s outer ring road between Běchovice and the D1 motorway should help relieve traffic congestion in Prague’s Spořilov district, but the project is still in the planning stages. A planning permit must be secured before the Road and Motorway Authority (ŘSD) can start land buyouts. ŘSD hopes it will be able to start construction in 2018, with completion two years later. Costs are expected to hit CZK 6.4bn.
