Prague City Hall wants to buy additional land on Vidoule Hill in Prague 5 for about CZK 36.4 million, which the city is gradually buying from private owners. The intention is to build a leisure area there. The purchase was approved Monday by city councilors, but representatives will still need to vote on it. According to the approved document, the city has so far bought land with an area of 168,000 sqm and paid CZK 287 million for it.

Table Mountain Vidoule is the dominant feature of the Košíře-Motol Nature Park, which is between Koeries and Butovice. City councilor for property Jan Chabr (TOP 09) has stated in the past that, for the sake of continuity, he considers it important to complete the gradual consolidation of land on Vidoula, which was started by previous political representations. According to the approved document, the purchase began in 2017, when the municipality bought the first 38,185 square meters at a price of 1,711 crowns per meter. The price is based on an expert estimate and also applies to the currently approved transaction.

The city has already entrusted part of the purchased land to Prague 5. According to a study commissioned by the city district, new roads and furniture are to be created in the natural monument, where in the past the development companies sought to build it up. The plan is to plant greenery and the old anti-aircraft bunkers, which are located on the hill, should also be used. The area should also include, for example, a cross-country and skating circuit, meadows for flying kites and a natural sports ground.
