Prague will buy out land to complete ring road

16 May 2017

Prague will buy out land needed to complete the city’s ring road, which will help expedite work on the connection between the D1 and D11 motorways on the southeastern outskirts of the capital. Petr Dolínek, Prague’s transport councilor, says the city coalition has approved the agreement prepared by the Road and Highway Directorate (ŘSD). He told the server e15 that several hundred legal steps will be needed to complete the land buyouts, the majority of which belong to private individuals. ŘSD is a state-owned company and can only start buyouts when it secures a valid planning permit for the ring road section in question. Prague can start the process immediately, which could speed up completion of the 13 km, CZK 8bn motorway section by two years. The project is currently in the EIA process. As soon as ŘSD has a planning permit, it will buy the land from Prague.
