Prices of the main categories of building materials have fallen by up to 25% in 2023, according to an analysis by online retailer Mathaus, part of the Arabesque group. In 2023, the biggest price adjustments were seen in furniture raw materials, where materials such as chipboard and MDF were sold 30 percent and 34 percent cheaper respectively compared to the same period in 2022.
Other materials whose prices fell by up to 25 percent were concrete steel and materials for thermosystems. Steel prices fell by 25 percent, while pipes and profiles for construction also saw a 10 percent reduction. The average price per tonne for brick and concrete masonry is 5 percent lower. OSB is down 20 percent, expanded polystyrene 24 percent and mineral wool 8 percent, while mortars are up to 5 percent lower than the same period last year.
