Private Slovak investors turn to student accommodation

16 September 2014

Following in the footsteps of investment funds in Western Europe, private Slovak investors are venturing into student accommodation. The four-star 55-room Hotel Medium in Bratislava’s Ružinov district, for example, has been turned into Student House, offering 59 apartments for two or three people. Rooms range from 28 to 50 sqm and lease for €175 to €330 per person per month. Wellness, kitchen, laundry and study areas are available to students free of charge and there is a restaurant onsite.
The owner of the Incheba exhibition grounds in the city’s Petržalka district has recently launched a similar project, writes the server e-trend.sk. The investor refurbished part of an existing hotel into Student Residence, which offers 200 beds. Students pay between €155 and €270 per month. The residence was 80 percent leased three weeks after opening, writes the news site.
