Profits up at Czech banks

Net profits at major Czech banks rose by 25 percent y-o-y to CZK 37.7bn in the first half of 2012, according to numbers released by the Czech National Bank. Česká spořitelna brought in CZK 8.22bn, a 14-percent increase y-o-y. Earnings at Komerční banka increased by 38.8 percent to CZK 7.6bn and ČSOB improved its H1 results by 27 percent y-o-y, reporting CZK 7.9bn in profits. UniCredit Bank’s net profit was CZK 1.61bn, an increase of 141 percent since last year. Banks’ interest income grew by 4 percent to CZK 87.1bn.
