Property sales in Lithuania down 5% in 2015

25 January 2016

Sales on the Lithuanian property market fell by nearly 5 percent in 2015, with 109,360 residential homes, commercial buildings and land sold, down from 115,000 in 2014, according to new figures released by the Center of Registers.
“Although the year 2015 started on a quiet note, the market picked up speed in June and showed better results than in 2014 up to the end of the year. Thus, forecasts that buyers’ euro-adoption-driven enthusiasm would dissipate in 2015 and would significantly slow the property market down did not prove true,” the center said in a statement.

Apartments drove the residential market with 29,600 units sold last year, down 8 percent from 2014. Single-family house sales also fell 7.4 percent y-o-y. Meanwhile, approximately 14,000 non-residential properties were sold in 2015.
