Proposed changes to Czech construction law gutted

8 April 2019

Changes to the Czech law on transportation and linear construction projects are unlikely to be as sweeping as the ones that were proposed last month. The legislative council, which advises the Czech government, has left what Hospodářské noviny is calling “the torso” of the original bill. Gone, writes HN, is the provision that would require opponents of a construction project to make a CZK 10,000 security deposit with their complaints. It’s also looking unlikely that any construction permit submission not approved or disapproved within 30 or 60 days would automatically be considered approved. One change to the law currently under consideration would be allowing judges to refuse to hear a suit brought by an opponent of a construction project if it appears to be pure harrassment.
