PSJ completes Alpine Bau takeover

2 July 2014

PSJ has completed its takeover of Alpine Bau CZ, one of the biggest players on the Czech transport construction market. Through the acquisition, PSJ also gained control of Alpine Bau subsidiary Alpine Slovakia and a stake in Silasfalt, an asphalt producer based in Ostrava.

The three companies reported a total turnover of CZK 1.84bn last year and employed a staff of 641. The Czech and Slovak Antimonopoly offices approved the takeover this week. Under the deal, PSJ has exclusive rights to the Alpine brand on the Czech and Slovak markets for 15 years. PSJ also hopes to take advantage of the strong influence Alpine Bau has in Russia, Belorussia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. PSJ CEO František Vaculík said that a diversified group of construction and development companies is less vulnerable in hard times.
