PZU to cut 376 jobs

11 July 2012

Poland’s biggest insurer is to cut 376 jobs this year, the company announced, having already reduced more than 3,500 over the past two years. “The restructuring of employment resulted from the new projects PZU has been implementing of late. The projects were carried out in order to simplify work process for the company, as well as to improve the expense management,” says Olga Zarachowicz, managing director at PZU’s HR department.
Along with the workforce reduction, also some of the employment conditions could change for more than 600 PZU workers, resulting from the same restructuring process. All the details are expected to be disclosed next week, when the talks between union leaders and PZU’s board are scheduled to begin. “We’re not surprised with the job cuts,” says Andrzej Lenart, the head of Polish trade union “Solidarność” in PZU. “We’ve been surprised, however, with the fact, that the reductions include departments, that were said not to be affected by the process,” he adds.
