An agreement was reached between the Polish insurance giant PZU and trade unions this week, following news that the company plans to make cuts to its work force. Both sides agreed the job cuts will begin on Sept. 13 and will continue until Oct. 11. Once completed 369 employees will lose their jobs. Along with workforce reduction, some employment conditions could change for PZU workers. “We’re not surprised with the job cuts,” Andrzej Lenart, the head of Polish trade union Solidarność, said before the talks began. “We’ve been surprised, however, with the fact, that the reductions include departments, that were said not to be affected by the process.”
