According to report from Dodge Data & Analytics, the value of Q1 construction contacts increased 39 percent in South Florida compared to the first three months of 2014. The report found $2.3 billion in construction contracts granted in the tri-county area through the end of March, up from $1.65 billion last year. Commercial real estate contracts increased 57 percent to $838 million. The majority of the activity was in the residential sector with an increase of $1.46 billion, a gain of 30 percent. The difference is being felt in the building industry as employers are having to compete more for workers.
