R4 extension could begin in March

10 February 2015

Work should move forward on the continuation of the R4 expressway, after an announcement by the Czech Highway Authority (ŘSD) that the winner of the project’s tender had been determined. If no complications arise during the 15-day period allowed for objections to be lodged, construction could begin by the end of the first quarter of this year. The extension will form a bypass around the village of Dubenec, through which traffic heading to and from Prague to the north currently passes. Worth around CZK 1bn, the construction includes sound barriers and four small bridges. The Czech government recently pledged to pump more money into infrastructure investments to help get the economy moving.
