Radlicka radial road rethink

14 July 2020

Having spent a couple of decades trying to approve the Radlicka arterial road, the City of Prague has begun searching for ways to design a less destructive piece of urban infrastructure. As originally designed, the four lane highway would have had an enormous impact on all existing life around it. But it would also have limited the type of urban development that could take place in the future. The idea now is to rethink the road to place it at the same level as the surrounding terrain, rather than conceiving of it as an elevated road. The goal is also to cover it in some way, in order to reduce noise levels. The City of Prague approved the commissioning of a study for a potential redesign and announced a tender to choose the company who will complete it. The study will focus on the intersection at Bucharova Street and the Rozvadovska connector road (the end of the D5 motorway).
