Raiffeisenbank announced it is accepting Ukrainian hryvnia at all branches with a cash register in the Czech Republic. Individuals can deposit them in a personal account, where they will be converted into the selected currency according to their choice. Money from the account can be withdrawn immediately and without restrictions at the branch office or at ATMs.
As a systemically important bank, we are looking for ways to make it easier for Ukrainian citizens affected by the war to stay in the Czech Republic.
Due to the limited convertibility, the bank will buy a maximum of 5,000 hryvnia per day from each client. Only banknotes with a nominal value of twenty hryvnia (about 15 crowns) and higher will be accepted for deposits. The Bank will set the purchase rate on its website and at the branch offices.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, the Czech Ministry of the Interior has issued 308,170 visas to refugees from Ukraine. Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion receive temporary protection visas, which allow them to stay in the Czech Republic for up to a year. At the same time, they have access to public health insurance, education, the labor market and are entitled to additional assistance.
