Real estate transactions dry up during Serbia’s state of emergency

The pace of real estate sales in Serbia was rising before the pandemic hit, with 11 percent more contracts registered than for the same period of 2019. But beginning in March, the market collapsed, with official statistics reporting a 28 percent drop year-on-year.

The collapse was nearly complete in April, with deal volume down 80 percent. According to the Republic Geodetic Authority- RGA, 7,455 real estate sales contracts were signed in Serbia in March, while there were just 2,178 completed in April. From May 1 to 8, 754 contracts on real estate transactions in Serbia were signed.
