Reconstructed Hotel Park Inn in Bratislava fights for approval

1 February 2018

The refurbished hotel Danube in Bratislava’s Old Town, which has been repositioned as Hotel Park Inn by Radisson Danube Bratislava, is racing to get its final user permit in time to welcome guests in March. BratislavskeNoviny.sk claims the hotel is accepting reservations despite the ongoing approval process of what’s turned out to be a controversial reconstruction. Architects and city officials have complained not only that the building’s new façade doesn’t match what was agreed in the building permit process, but also that it’s unacceptable in view of its location.

The mayor’s office is playing down the issue for the moment, saying only that all the necessary documentation has been submitted. There are reports that the investor had held a workshop with a group of architects that was supposed to come up with a solution to the problem over the façade. However, nothing along these lines has been submitted to the city’s conservation office as of yet.
