Relaxdays settles on Panattoni Park Leipzig Airport

1 February 2022

Panattoni has fully leased the recently completed Panattoni Park Leipzig Airport in Schkeuditz, Saxony. The entire property has been handed over to a single tenant, Relaxdays GmbH, which is headquartered in Halle an der Saale, Saxony-Anhalt. Relaxdays is the largest online retailer in central Germany, offering around 20,000 products in the home, garden and leisure segments.

The company opted to establish a location for the long term at Panattoni Park Leipzig Airport, which offers around 51,300 sqm of hall space, 3,200m2 of office space and 3,000 sqm of mezzanine space. Relaxdays will also benefit from 14 lorry parking spaces and 131 car parking spaces on the premises. The property was handed over to Relaxdays on 1 November 2021.

With its new site at Panattoni Park Leipzig Airport, Relaxdays has expanded its total logistics space to 149,000 sqm across five locations. These sites allow the company to fulfill orders placed by private and B2B customers from within Germany and across Europe.

“As the largest online retailer in central Germany, we operate at an international level but still strive to remain local and connected to our home,” said Martin Menz, CEO of Relaxdays GmbH. “Supporting our region’s development is important to us. The site at Panattoni Park Leipzig Airport offers the ideal conditions to do just that. We are delighted that, following swift and successful negotiations, we have found a suitable partner for our ambitions in Panattoni.”

The property, which has not previously been let, was completed in Q2 of 2021. After pursuing sustainable, resource-conserving development, Panattoni achieved the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) Gold standard. In total, the site in AirportPark Leipzig-Halle covers around 114,500 sqm and benefits from a direct connection to the A9 federal autobahn. Leipzig-Halle Airport is 7km away by road and within eyeshot of the Panattoni Park.

The collaboration with Invest Region Leipzig and support from the City of Schkeuditz were decisive factors in Relaxdays’ decision to move into the site.

Managing Director of Invest Region Leipzig, Michael Körner, gave his view on the project development: “Panattoni Park Leipzig Airport is a success story. In less than two years, an idea has been turned into new economic potential, which will deliver benefits not only for the newly settled company but for the region as whole.”

Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner at Panattoni, said: “The new occupier, Relaxdays, will enjoy excellent transport connections and infrastructure at Panattoni Park Leipzig Airport, and has thus created the perfect conditions for its continued growth. It gives us immense pleasure to work with an e-commerce retailer like Relaxdays that has its roots in the region. We are united by an approach to business that combines an international vision with a local focus.”

Daniel Bralic from the Leipzig branch of Colliers International Deutschland GmbH brokered the deal with the future occupier, Relaxdays. The firm was also responsible for marketing the Panattoni Park in Schkeuditz.
