The Lisbon City Council is investing €25m in housing and in the construction of new public spaces, in the rehabilitation of schools, and in the creation of nurseries and kindergartens. However, the city has also introduced the Affordable Income Program (PRA), which aims to provide access to homes at affordable prices in multiple locations around of Lisbon. The program aims to attract up to 7,000 people to the center of Lisbon to gain back inhabitants who have left the city in recent decades. The PRA will be developed in 15 locations in the city of Lisbon, with rents ranging between 250 and 450 euros. It also provides for the construction of trades and services, along with kindergartens and schools. All families who do not own their own home can apply, assuming they do not currently benefit from social housing programs and that their gross income is between €7,500 and €40,000 annually.
