Rental activities pandemic-proof business for Portuguese estate agents

8 June 2020

In a survey of 680 members of the Association of Real Estate Agents of Portugal (ASMIP), the average drop in activity between March and May was 50 percent. Within the group, 67 percent noticed some drop in business, while just 21 percent found that it had remained the same or improved. The majority of those surveyed (73 percent) focus on residential sales to end users, while nearly 15 percent specialize in investment transactions.

The rental business proved more reliable, with 55 percent claiming that their business had been untouched by the crisis, while just 28 percent complained that business had declined. Most reported slower numbers for the first two months of the year compared to the same period in 2019.
