Škoda Transportation has reportedly won a €70m tender to supply 20 new low-floor trams to Riga’s transport company Rigas Satiksme, according to unofficial information obtained by the Latvian news agency, LETA. Rigas Satiksme is expected to announce tender results later today. Stadler Polska sp.z.o.o. And Pojazdy Szynowe PESA Bydgoszcz Spolka Akcyjna also submitted bids. The two Polish complained to the Procurement Monitoring Bureau in October about the new trams’ technical specifications, which news reports claim favor Škoda. But the charges were dismissed. The Czech company won the last public tender launched by Rigas Satiksme in 2008.
